This is a four-week group which will introduce you to the concept of mindfulness and the opportunity to practice mindful principles through photography. Each week we will explore the local area with our cameras and observe the world around us from a perspective of non-judgement, curiosity, and appreciation.

What is involved?

We often spend a lot of energy ruminating on the past, worrying about the future, or judging ourselves. Mindfulness, the practice of paying attention to the present moment, is a helpful skill to bring your awareness away from these unhelpful ways of thinking.

In our new mindful photography walking group, you will learn about mindfulness and mindful attitudes, the ways this can benefit your mental health, and how to practice mindfulness through taking photos. It is a good opportunity to slow down, breathe in some fresh air, and appreciate nature and the world around us.

The focus of the group is to cultivate a sense of inner calm through the practice of mindfulness, it is not on your ability to take photographs. You do not need any knowledge or experience of photography, or any special photography equipment. A smartphone camera is all you need.

Week one – we will meet at Mindspace
Week two – we will meet at the South Inch
Week three – we will meet at the Norrie Millar walk
Week four – we will meet at the North Inch
