About Us

Mindspace Limited (registered 2014), formerly Perth Association for Mental Health, was formed in 1981 by Margaret Lamond.  She recognised the value of a self-help group for people recovering from mental illness meeting for mutual support.

Our services have developed since then to include Mindspace Counselling Service.  Counselling is delivered both in Perth City and at a number of rural locations around Perthshire.  Our counselling service is open to individuals over 11 years of age.

Mindspace Recovery College is our award-winning service! This gives anyone in our community the opportunity to learn more about living with and managing mental health.  There are also sessions on life skills, employability skills and supporting others through peer support.  This is done working alongside people with lived experience of mental ill health.  There is a young people's recovery college and an adult recovery college - the latter was voted “Self-Management Project of the Year” in a public vote held by Alliance Scotland at an award ceremony at the Scottish Parliament in 2017!

Our Peer Support Hub is our latest enhancement, launched in 2017. Our Peer Support Workers are trained by us through our SQA accredited Mental Health Peer Support Professional Development Award. They use their lived experience to provide one to one support to individuals experiencing mental health difficulties to enhance personal growth and promote hope, confidence, life skills, connections and independence within the community.

“In my experience Mindspace are sector leaders in Scotland for quality recovery service delivery in the voluntary sector. Other providers across Scotland would do well to adopt their practice and models in supporting recovery in mental health care.” External Stakeholder

“I'm amazed at how effective Mindspace is at helping people manage their mental health issues and foster independence and self-reliance.” External Stakeholder

Our Ambassador, Eve Muirhead

We are extremely proud that World Champion and Olympic curler Eve Muirhead is our Ambassador! Eve believes that mental health is just as important as physical health and says "I am absolutely delighted to be an Ambassador for Mindspace. The chance to help out and promote a charity is something I've always wanted to do. Their work is superb and always getting better and I love being involved in the constant development."
