HEALING THROUGH THE ART OF KINTSUGI
Kintsugi is the Japanese art of putting broken pottery pieces back together with gold. Built on the idea that, in embracing flaws and imperfections, you can create something stronger, and more beautiful.
What is involved?
The word kintsugi means ‘golden joinery’. Kintsugi is the Japanese art of putting broken pottery pieces back together with gold.
Built on the idea that in embracing flaws and imperfections, you can create something stronger, more beautiful, and unique than it was before. Instead of hiding the cracks, it’s a feature of the item.
Our workshops allow people to explore their own connection between kintsugi and their mental health journey. Over three weeks you will decorate and design pottery in a way that is meaningful to you, the item will then be safely broken, and then repaired back together embellishing the cracks with gold.
At the end you will have a beautiful piece of kintsugi art to take away that is uniquely symbolic to you with the reminder that nothing is ever truly broken.
Who is it for?
If you have ever felt broken by things that have happened in your life this course may be for you. This workshop is for anyone who would like to explore their mental health journey and embrace the ‘imperfections’ or ‘cracks’.
